The College GPA Calculator takes the confusion out of tracking your academic performance across multiple courses and semesters. Most students know roughly how they are doing, but far fewer have a precise figure for their current GPA — and that number matters more than it might seem. Scholarship eligibility, academic standing requirements, graduate school applications, and internship programmes frequently set minimum GPA thresholds, and knowing exactly where you stand gives you time to act rather than being caught off guard at the end of term. This calculator handles both semester GPA and cumulative GPA in the same tool. Enter your courses for the current semester, calculate your semester result, save it to your cumulative record, and watch your GPA trend build across every semester you track — all without touching a spreadsheet.

Formulas Used: Semester GPA = Sum of (Grade Points × Credit Hours) ÷ Total Credit Hours for the Semester Cumulative GPA = Sum of (Grade Points × Credit Hours across all semesters) ÷ Total Credit Hours across all semesters Grade points follow the standard US scale: A = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, and so on down to F = 0.0

How to Use the College GPA Calculator

Building your semester and cumulative GPA record is straightforward:

Add Your Courses by filling in the details for each subject you are taking this semester. The course name field is optional and purely for your own reference — what the calculator actually needs is the credit hours for each course and the letter grade you received or expect to receive. You can add as many courses as your semester requires, and remove any entry if you add one by mistake.

Click Calculate Semester GPA once all your courses are entered. Your semester GPA appears immediately, along with a summary of the total credit hours for that semester. The grade points for each letter grade follow the standard US scale, so an A earns 4.0 points per credit hour, a B+ earns 3.3, and so on down the scale.

Save the Semester to Your Cumulative Record by clicking the Save Semester button once you are satisfied with the semester entries. This adds the semester to your cumulative GPA calculation, which updates automatically to reflect the weighted average across all saved semesters. The total credit hours accumulated and the number of semesters saved are displayed alongside the running cumulative GPA.

Review Your Saved Semesters in the history section below the cumulative GPA, which lists each saved semester and its contribution to your overall record. A GPA trend chart visualizes how your performance has moved across semesters, making it easy to spot upward or downward patterns over time.

Export to PDF using your browser’s print function and saving as a PDF if you need a clean, portable record of your GPA history to keep, share with an advisor, or include in an application.

Reset All Semesters to clear your cumulative record and start fresh whenever needed.

Why Use the College GPA Calculator Online?

Semester and Cumulative GPA in One Tool: Calculating a single semester GPA is straightforward enough, but tracking cumulative GPA across multiple semesters — weighted correctly by credit hours — is where things get complicated. This calculator handles both in the same place, saving you the time and risk of error that comes with doing it manually in a spreadsheet or on paper.

Credit Hour Weighting for Accurate Cumulative Results: Not all courses carry the same number of credit hours, and a three-credit course should contribute more to your GPA than a one-credit elective. The cumulative GPA calculation applies proper credit hour weighting across all saved semesters, which is the only way to get a number that genuinely reflects your academic record.

GPA Trend Chart Across Semesters: As you save more semesters, the trend chart builds a visual picture of your academic trajectory over time. This is valuable beyond just the current number — seeing whether your GPA is climbing, holding steady, or dipping gives you the context to understand what your recent performance actually means for your overall record.

PDF Export for Records and Applications: Many academic and professional contexts ask for a GPA record or transcript summary. The browser-based PDF export produces a clean, single-page output of your semester history and cumulative GPA that is ready to save, print, or attach to an application without any additional formatting work.

Free and Instantly Accessible: No account needed, no subscription, and no cost. Open the calculator, enter your courses, and get an accurate semester and cumulative GPA result in seconds.
